  Sailfish Fishing Package

The Seas fastest fish, the Sailfish is abundant in Phuket waters. During the months of July to November a big migration of Sailfish pass this area and the fishing can be spectacular with multiple hook-ups not uncommon. Koh Rok and Koh Ha Yai, located 56 and 39 miles south east of Phuket has been mentioned in several sailing magazines because of their beautiful white beaches, the crystal clear water, the fantastic reef and excellent shelter for the night. If your dream fish is a Sailfish, this destination is a "must". The closer to Phuket Racha Yai Island offers also a consistent Sailfish action during the months of July to November. The fishing is normally best early morning and in the afternoon near the islands. Tuna Belly strips in combination with teasers or slow trolling with live-bait are the best methods here for catching Sailfish.

Catching a sailfish is one of the ultimate thrills in saltwater sport fishing. Sailfish, which locally range from 40 - 180 pounds, can be taken year-round. The peak time for sails is July to mid November. The summer months produce good numbers of sails. May - October is considered the rainy season, but it usually just rains for an hour or two. The Sailfish around Phuket are average 60 pounds and huge numbers of fish can often be seen free jumping in the afternoon around Racha Yai and Rok Islands. The action is normally best early morning and late afternoon. The Sails around Andaman Islands are generally much bigger but fewer than the fish around Phuket, most Sails here are over 80lbs. We have caught and released fish up to 180 lbs around Andaman Islands, often the big Sailfish attack our big 16 inch marlin lures without hesitation. Sailfish has been clocked up to 113 km per hour and are regarded as the fastest fish swimming the world’s oceans. Most of our anglers prefer to catch them on light equipments (12 to 20lb). They don’t have the lasting power of a marlin but the speed and the often spectacular jumps make up for it. When big schools of Sailfish are around, fly fishing is an available option. You have to bring your own fly gear, we have the teasers needed and the crew knows how to work the teasers.
