The Sea’s fastest fish, the Sailfish is abundant in Phuket waters. During the months of July to November a big migration of Sailfish pass this area and the fishing can be spectacular with multiple hook-ups not uncommon. Koh Rok and Koh Ha Yai, located 56 and 39 miles south east of Phuket has been mentioned in several sailing magazines because of their beautiful white beaches, the crystal clear water, the fantastic reef and excellent shelter for the night. If your dream fish is a Sailfish, this destination is a "must". The closer to Phuket Racha Yai Island offers also a consistent Sailfish action during the months of July to November. The fishing is normally best early morning and in the afternoon near the islands. Tuna Belly strips in combination with teasers or slow trolling with live-bait are the best methods here for catching Sailfish.
